Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Critical Care Clinical Practice Expert is an advanced practice Registered Nurse with advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in critically ill patient populations. This expert champions the organization's vision and values by optimizing critical care delivery through evidence-based practice, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality care, and achieving superior patient outcomes.


This role comprehensively assesses complex patient needs, spearheads the planning, execution, and evaluation of nursing interventions, and designs/implements coordinated care programs for critical illness. As an expert practitioner, they drive optimal nursing quality through direct, highly skilled patient care, staff development, consultation, and actively integrating research and technology.


The Expert leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based educational programs, orientations, and continuing education across multiple units or facility-wide, managing programs that foster professional growth and competency in alignment with organizational goals. Serving as a clinical leader, they promote excellence in clinical nursing care, acting as an advanced learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, and champion for interprofessional collaboration, driving evidence-based practice and teaching across client, nurse, and system spheres of influence, while ensuring compliance with all standards.

Required

  • Registered Nurse: CA (RN:CA) upon hire Required
  • Masters Of Nursing upon hire Required
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR), upon hire Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire Required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days of hire Required
  • Fire Safety (FIRESAFETY) within 90 Days of hire  Required

Preferred

  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in the critical care setting. Preferred
  • PhD, DNP, EdD upon hire preferred
  • Experience with data analysis and quality improvement methodologies. Preferred
  • Experience in precepting or charge nursing roles preferred. Preferred
  • Critical RN Adult/Neonatal/Pediatric/Acute (CCRN) upon hire Preferred 
  • Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) upon hire Preferred
  • Advanced Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist (ACCNS-AG) upon hire Preferred 
  • Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist Board Certified (ACNS-BC) upon hire Preferred
