Job Summary and Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Prehospital Care Coordinator, and performing within the guidelines of the Los Angeles Base Hospital Agreement and the Los Angeles County Trauma Hospital Agreement, the Prehospital Data Coordinator is responsible for the following: Abstracts data elements from the hospital patient record and records the data elements onto the required data forms. Inputs the data into the LA Base computer for reporting to LA County within the required time frame. While maintaining confidentiality this employee coordinates the interface between two unconnected computer systems providing a resource to the ED/hospital and LA County Database, providing the statistics to drive the peer review and quality improvement processes.


Job Requirements
  • One Year ICD9 coding experience. 
  • Basic computer including spreadsheet skills.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Medical terminology. 
  • Chart review and data abstraction.
  • Must be able to utilize computer system and have excellent organizational skills.
