Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Patient Transport Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of the patient transport team, ensuring the timely and safe movement of patients throughout the hospital. This position requires a compassionate, solution-oriented leader with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The supervisor serves as a critical link between the transport staff, clinical teams, and hospital administration to optimize patient flow and satisfaction.

Team management: Provide daily direction, supervision, and mentorship to the patient transport team. This includes setting schedules, coordinating assignments, and conducting performance reviews.

  • Operational oversight: Manage the daily operations of the transport department, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. May need to support transporting patients as needed.
  • Safety and compliance: Enforce and monitor compliance with all safety protocols, infection control procedures, and regulatory standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Problem-solving: Address and resolve logistical issues and service disruptions as they arise, and work with other departments to mitigate any potential problems.
  • Communication and collaboration: Serve as a primary point of contact for clinical staff and other departments regarding transport needs and issues. Facilitate strong working relationships to ensure seamless patient handoffs.
  • Training and development: Assist with training new transport staff on hospital policies, procedures, and best practices. Promote ongoing development to ensure high performance.
