Job Summary and Responsibilities

Under direction of the Materials Management Manager/Supervisor this position is responsible for cost containment in the entire procedural care area. Inclusive of all supply storage areas, the ERP item request and inventory control. Actively confirms all incoming deliveries of stock and nonstock supplies, equipment and services.

  • Reviews the inpatient and outpatient surgery schedule on a daily basis with scheduling, managing the timely ordering and department receipt of all equipment and supplies.
  • Responsible for tissue tracking per policy and procedure.
  • Manages documentation on all implant ordering and logs explant information in accordance with regulatory compliance guidelines.
  • Responsible for managing consignment per policy.
  • Complete the input of all electronic purchase requisitions daily, following Supply Services Resource Management guidelines.
  • Daily follow through with Purchase Service Center regarding open orders and backorders.
  • Removes supplies designated for expiration and obsolescence for vendor return, swap out or donation routing.
  • Manages the product and equipment recall process and coordinates the return/replacement processes for all alerts/notifications
  • Researches and verifies contractual compliance on all purchases, including capital/non-capital equipment quotes and requests to be presented to the directors and managers.
  • Participates in Environment of Care (EOC) rounding, Facility Implementation Team (FIT) and various committees as deemed necessary by materials management leadership.
  • Supports physicians, clinicians and all healthcare provider groups in standardizing products and equipment.
  • Researches all new product physician and clinical staff requests utilizing corporate contract system, Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), vendor tracking system and the Facility Implementation Team (FIT) for approvals.

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years or more experience working within a surgery department at a large healthcare system. Demonstrate clear understanding of medical inventory/equipment management.
  • Supply Chain highly desired, Materials Management InformationSystem
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form in English
  • Good numerical skills a must
  • Sound customer service techniques and practices, ability to communicate in a professional and articulate manner with internal and external partners at all levels both verbal and written, remain calm and courteous while handling problems, comfortable as a team member and informational leader, knowledge of Materials Management

Preferred 

  • Associate Of Arts
  • 3-5 years previous Material Management related work experience in a hospital stockroom or warehouse
  • Certified Surgery Tech
  • Certified Central Service Tech
