Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Emergency Medical Specialist, you will administer patient care to designated patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, ensuring all duties align with the organization's mission and policies, while strictly adhering to performance improvement plans and regulatory standards.
Every day you will perform a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties, focusing on activities of daily living in accordance with the prescribed plan of care. You will also utilize established hospital standards of care and practice to guide your activities, managing individual patient needs based on age and clinical diagnosis, and maintaining patient safety and confidentiality throughout their hospital stay.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate exceptional patient care skills, a meticulous adherence to protocol and safety standards, and a deep understanding of patient needs and diversity.
- Demonstrates adherence to the standards of conduct requirements
- Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse within the scope of practice of a nursing assistant, such as vital signs, ambulation, activities of daily living, and routine treatment procedures as defined by hospital policy/procedure/routine.
- Reports all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in the patient's condition to the licensed nurse. Demonstrates clinical/technical expertise in general nursing skills Understands age specific variations in patient population
- Documents patient care measures according to patient care standards, policies and procedures. Manages age specific needs through appropriate adaptation of interventions (as directed by the licensed nurse)
- Assists in and accompanies patients in the admission, transfer, transport, and discharge procedures. Provides for safe care of patient valuables during these processes Utilizes proper body mechanics when performing job duties
- Maintains adequate levels of supplies and functioning of equipment and demonstrates accountability of all equipment.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Graduate or GED
- A minimum of 1 year of experince working as an EMT
- Valid Emergency Medical Technician certification: CA
- AHA Basic Life Support - CPR
- Fire Safety, within 90 days of hire
