Job Summary and Responsibilities

Labor, Delivery, Post Partum Unit Description: 

The OB Postpartum department at Longmont United Hospital has 11 LDRP beds, six Level II Special Care Nursery beds, two ORs and a three-bed triage. Our scope is Labor and Delivery, postpartum couplet care (mom & well baby), antepartum care, C-sections, Level II nursery and care for babies 32 weeks and up. Our department gets occasional overflow with gynecological surgery patients.

They need to be able to learn quickly and be someone who can multitask and handle ongoing change without getting flustered. This person will need to be flexible and able to work at a fast pace.

Join our team as an OB Surgical Tech! As an OB Surgical Tech you will:

  • Assist in smooth daily operations of the Labor & Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum unit.
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries under the direction of a Registered Nurse and provider and within scope of practice.
  • Function as a Scrub Tech for surgical procedures.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment on the unit.
  • Assist with maintenance of Point of Care Testing and High Level Disinfection equipment.
  • Perform clerical and business support tasks as assigned.
  • Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.

Job Requirements

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • High School graduate or GED, required
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), required
    • Current Colorado Surgical Technologist Registration for associates working in Colorado
  • Basic computer skill knowledge, required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, required
  • One-year patient care experience preferred
  • Two years of scrub tech experience specific to OB, preferred
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

Physical Requirements Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
