Job Summary and Responsibilities

Performs selected procedures and related duties under the direct supervision of the RN personnel in the operating room.

  • Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform tasks, skills, duties, procedures and responsibilities according to Medical Center Policy and Procedure.
  • Demonstrates the ability to relate fundamentals of anatomy and physiology to surgical intervention by using appropriate instruments and equipment.
  • Performs as a surgical technician by anticipating the surgeon's needs and providing the appropriate instrumentation and assistance.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prepare instruments and equipment and scrub on assigned cases as well as specialty cases.

  • Monitoring the sterile technique of the surgical team.

  • Identifying breaks in sterile technique and taking corrective measures.


Job Requirements
  • Previous experience as a scrub technician or successful completion of a certified surgical technician course.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • AHA BLS
  • Certification by the Association of Surgical Technicians preferred.
