The posted compensation range of $31.35 - $39.17 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Responsibilities
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides safe competent and professional care in accordance with the individual needs of all patients family members and fellow staff members. The EMT will abide by all hospital policies and procedures and will not perform any tasks that fall outside of his/her scope of practice. This position demonstrates competency in all tasks performed in the Emergency Services Department.
Uses or sets up the following equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's operating instructions including but not limited to:
- Blood pressure measurement devices
- Thermometers
- Scales
- Skin pressure relieving devices
- Restraints
- Dopplers
- Oxygen administration devices
- Suction devices (wall and portable)
- Infusion pumps (set up only)
- EKG machines
- Pulse oximeters
- Warming/cooling blankets
- Autotransfusion devices (set up only)
- Cardiac monitoring systems
SAFETY - Maintains a safe patient environment::
- Puts side rails up
- Ensures patient floor is clean/dry prior to patient ambulation
- Maintains a neat and orderly patient environment
- Monitors visitors/visitor control
- Fall risk (side rails wheelchair brakes use of patient walker/cane patient footwear)
- Choking risk (listens for and responds to sounds of choking)
- Reports safety concerns to charge nurse/Supervisor
- Demonstrates self safety
Qualifications
- Current EMT certification required
- Minimum of 6 months experience as a pre-hospital Emergency Technician EMT in a hospital or Paramedic.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Medical Terminology background
- Satisfactory completion of hospital orientation.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
