The posted compensation range of $52.04 - $77.42 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
Administrative Duties
• Interacts with physician, nurses, ward clerks, phlebotomists, other clinical laboratory scientists and other health care professionals in the resolution of problems involving patient specimen collection and handling, appropriateness of specimens, clarification of orders and result reporting.
Consults with Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Laboratory Supervisors, Administrative Director of Laboratory Services, Medical Director of Laboratory Services, or Pathologists for policy clarification and problem resolution.
Specimen Processing and Testing
• Receives, processes and tests patient samples within established timelines.
• Performs routine and specialized procedures in all areas as assigned following procedure in SOP manual for that area.
Quality Control and Proficiency Testing
• Receives, processes, tests and documents results of proficiency test samples in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Performs required quality control testing and documentation, and follows established guidelines for corrective action when results are not within the established acceptable levels of performance.
Required
- Three years bench experience is required with some supervisory experience is helpful.
- A Master's Degree in relevant laboratory science or in management is desirable or equivalent work experience may be substituted for academic requirements.
- A current State of California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist is required.
- ASCP registration or equivalent preferred.
