The posted compensation range of $31.94 - $46.31 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Responsibilities
The Chaplain helps to provide for the spiritual and emotional needs of patients who are entrusted to their care. This work is in concert with the physicians nurses and other members of the health care team. This position adheres to the Vision Values and Mission of Dignity Health and St. Mary Medical Center.
Qualifications
- Minimum of four units of CPE
- Masters Degree in advanced education in Theology of Ministry.
- Clinical Pastoral Education from an accredited training center.
- Firm sense of personal and professional identity with an ability to establish working peer relationships with other members of the health care team.
- Awareness of principles of Catholic Healthcare Ethics and Practices contemporary theological and psychosocial issues pertaining to illness and hospitalization.
- Ability and openness to serve diverse populations in regard to cultural faith and economic backgrounds.
- Certification and active membership in the National Association of Catholic Chaplains Association of Professional Chaplains or other certifying body or four units of CPE with the view toward certification by an accrediting body.
Ordained :
- Ordination to the priesthood or ministry. For Catholics continuing ecclesiastical endorsement by the order of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. For Other Denominations continuing formal endorsement by ones ecclesiastical body.
- Registration or licensure of recognized religious affiliation in good standing. Non-Ordained:
- For a Member of a Religious Order: -Religious Profession and continuing support and approval of religious superior and approval by the ordinary of the diocese.
For A Lay Chaplain:
- Approval by the ordinary of the diocese if Catholic. -For other denominations formal endorsement by one's ecclesiastical body.
- Good physical emotional and spiritual health.
- Flexibility in work hours programs and services.
- Physical and emotional health needed to perform satisfactorily the duties required.
- Ability to relate well to clergy of other denominations patients administration and staff.
