Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Echo Tech role involves performing all clinical aspects of diagnostic ultrasound testing, including various modes and techniques, and assisting with other Heart Station services. The technologist must prepare patients, document findings, report significant results to physicians, and potentially administer contrast agents. They also need to communicate effectively, maintain equipment, and perform clerical tasks related to echo studies.
- Performs all diagnostic cardiovascular ultrasound testing including M-Mode, two dimensional, color flow mapping, cardiac doppler, echo stress testing, transesophageal echo, stress testing, EKG, and Holter application.
- Prepares patient for ultrasound procedures
- Recognizes and promptly reports significant findings to physicians.
- Maintains echo equipment
- Maintains accurate log of echo procedures performed
Job Requirements
- Minimum of two years college with emphasis in medical sciences and mathematics. Meets minimum qualifications for eligibility for registration as an Echocardiographic Technician. Verifiable completion of 18 contact hours of in-service/continuing education in clinical Echocardiography; Registered as a Echocardiographic Technologist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years experience as Echocardiographic technologist
- Registered Echo technologist for minimum of two years
