The posted compensation range of $34.36 - $49.82 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Responsibilities
Provides quality, effective patient care through skilled assistance with surgical interventions in the immediate pre and post-operative periods both in the operating room and other patient care areas.
Discuss surgical procedures/requirements with the surgeon and other team members to assure needed equipment and supplies are available for the procedure. supplies for the procedure
Assist with the preparation of the operating room for the procedure and is available for nurse support when the patient is brought into the suite.
Assist with positioning, prepping, and draping as specified by the surgeon.
Harvest and prepare conduit for coronary bypass surgery under the supervision of a surgeon. Supervision
defined as the surgeon in the facility and available for immediate assistance/consultation if needed.
Closes the wound under the supervision of the surgeon. Supervision defined as the surgeon in the facility and
available for immediate assistance/consultation if needed.
Appropriately selects and applies wound dressing.
Assist the surgeon by application/removal of cast and applying traction and/or braces as ordered.
Follow through in emergency situations.
Communicates accurate information in a timely manner concerning patient condition or need of physician/other
health care professional.
Demonstrates effective time management skills by assisting team members to decrease case turnover times.

Qualifications
- Surgical First Assist or college degree in health related field
- Five years (5) first assisting experience.
- BLS Required
- Must be able to rotate call and report within 30 minutes, if called for a procedure.
Preferred
- Cardiovascular Operating Room
- Experience in first assisting a surgeon

OverviewThe CV Surgical Tech IV will assist the surgical team under the supervision of the surgeon. Primarily functions as surgical assistant when appropriate. Responsible for assisting the physician with surgical tasks and procedures throughout the intraoperative phase, as well as contributing to the delivery of quality patient care by working with other surgical team members during the immediate preoperative and postoperative phases.
The operating room (Cardiac OR) runs as a team; every person on the team has an important role that directly impacts the patient. Your success in this role comes from your adaptability and enthusiasm to work with a team taking patients from a diseased process to a healing process.
