Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE
The CE Medical Device Network Engineer I is responsible for design, implementation and support of IT related changes/projects associated with medical devices supported by the Clinical Engineering IT environment. This position provides specialized repair (Radiology, Clinical Engineering and Clinical Engineering network devices) and maintenance services to medical treatment and diagnostic equipment.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides specialized medical equipment repair on Clinical Engineering IT equipment in inventory that requires IT and/or Security related expertise.
- Performs electrical safety testing on specialized medical equipment in inventory.
- Performs preventative maintenance/calibrations/security for specialized medical equipment in inventory along with approved Cyber updates for networked equipment.
- Provides technical/network support and assistance to Clinical Engineering technicians.
- Must be able to recommend, develop and implement Clinical Engineering IT solutions in moderately complex dynamic multi-site Clinical Engineering environment.
- Proactively monitor, evaluate, analyze and resolve Clinical Engineering IT issues in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to Clinical Engineering IT architecture, processes and support.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to information security architecture, processes and support.
- Performs product evaluations on proposed and current technology solutions; creates risk statements, summaries and presentations for management in an effort to identify, recommend and prioritize cost effective Clinical Engineering IT solutions.
- Assists users in the specification, selection, installation, and/or administration of the various Clinical Engineering IT related devices and software that may be attached to the network. Provides technical consulting to other Information Technology personnel, on an as needed basis, in the analysis of network performance.
- Knowledgeable in general cybersecurity topics and activities of protection and mitigation of devices to maintain clinical functionality.
- Completes all necessary record keeping for network environment, work orders received and finished.
- Serves as a technical resource to various departments in providing expertise in the area of Clinical Engineering IT and participates on project task teams as assigned.
- Participates in hospital sponsored education relating to job function and attends all education programs deemed appropriate by the Manager.
- Evaluate new Clinical Engineering Information technology. Assist with the planning and design of future Clinical Engineering IT Equipment.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in HTM, Computer Science, Technology, Business discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 2-4 Years of related Clinical Engineering Networking experience with a minimum of 1-2 years of IT Security.
Required Licensure and Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:
- Knowledge of information networking principles and best practices.
- Experience with HIPAA/HITECH compliance standards.
This position requires participation in a rotational on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be available to respond to urgent service needs outside of regular business hours and may be required to return to the facility on short notice.
