Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgical team under the supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse.
  • Primarily functions as surgical assistant when appropriate (see functions of the surgical scrub and as second surgical scrub).
  • The surgical technologist will also assist in the circulating duties as delegated by an RN.
  • Competency to Scrub and prepare For Surgical Procedure
  • Competency To Assist Surgeons
  • Maintaining Patient Treatments
  • Competency to Assist in the Circulating Duties of an RN
  • Competency to create & maintain a sterile operative field and assist in providing an infection-free environment for the patient

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year surgical experience preferred
  • BLS within 30 days
  • Must have the ability to perform independently as first surgical scrub and/or second surgical scrub (see duties of first and second surgical scrubs) without close supervision
  • Must be able to perform in a team concept environment
  • Must possess demonstrated knowledge, training and skills in relating with patients of different age levels as well as their physical, psychological and developmental levels

As our Cardiac Surgical Tech IV at CHI St. Vincent, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll prepare the operating room for a variety of surgeries. We can’t operate without you. 

The operating room (OR) runs as a team; every person on the team has an important role that directly impacts the patient. Your success in this role comes from your adaptability and enthusiasm to work with a team taking patients from a diseased process to a healing process. 

CHI St Vincent Infirmary is a 600 bed faith-based, non-profit, acute care facility providing quality health care to patients and communities from all over the State of Arkansas.
