Behavioral Therapist
The posted compensation range of $27.00 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
The Behavioral Therapist is responsible for providing high quality patient care, displaying good skills in assessment, treatment planning, group treatment, individual treatment, family treatment, and discharge planning. Additionally, he/she is expected to function well as a member of the multidisciplinary team and participate in the Unit Community Relations Program.

Responsibilities
- Conducts individual psychotherapy sessions, displaying theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and good treatment technique.
- Conducts family therapy sessions, displaying good theoretical knowledge of family therapy principles and good treatment technique.
- Conducts group therapy sessions, displaying good theoretical knowledge of group therapy principles and good group therapy technique.
- Conducts educational group sessions, displaying good theoretical knowledge of subject matter and effective communication skills in presenting material.
- Engages in timely, efficient discharge planning beginning at admission. Works in close conjunction with patient, family, guardians, legal system, nursing staff and attending physician. Shows good knowledge of referral/placement process and available community resources.
- Completes social evaluations on assigned patients in a timely fashion. Displays good interviewing, diagnosis and report writing skills.
- Completes progress notes and discharge plans in a timely and high quality fashion.
- Ensures patient legal status is accurate and up to date.
- Conducts individual psychotherapy sessions as needed throughout the hospital for Behavioral Health patients.
- Other Responsibilities
- Functions cooperatively as a member of the treatment team.
- Communicates effectively with families and agencies, conveying a positive professional image.
- Brings to Program Director’s attention significant issues related to program functioning.
- Works sufficient hours to ensure effective performance.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology from an accredited university.
- One year field placement or one year’s experience working with Chemical Dependency/Mental health/Eating Disorders patients.
BLS required within 30 days. CPI required within 90 days of hire.
Therapist or Counselor License in State of AR.
