Job Summary and Responsibilities

The LPN utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) in a supervised, systematic approach to the direct and indirect care of patients and their families.  

  • Administer medications: Oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and some intravenous (depending on state regulations and hospital policy).
  • Monitor patient vital signs: Blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
  • Perform basic patient assessments: Observe and report changes in patient condition.
  • Assist with patient hygiene and activities of daily living (ADLs): Bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation.
  • Document patient care: Record vital signs, medications, observations, and interventions in the patient's chart.
  • Collect specimens: Urine, stool, sputum, and blood (venipuncture depending on state and hospital).
  • Perform wound care: Dressing changes, basic wound assessment.
  • Communicate with patients and families: Provide emotional support, answer questions, explain procedures.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team: Report patient status to Registered Nurses (RNs) and physicians.
  • Maintain a clean and safe patient environment.

Job Requirements

Graduate of accredited school of nursing

Licensed in the State of Minnesota

BLS

Preferred

EPIC EMR experience

LPN experience
