Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

The Volunteer Services Program Manager oversees the policies, and procedures and general operations of our volunteer workforce in the Kentucky Market for CHI Saint Joseph Health.  This role is responsible for standardizing and streamlining policies and procedures to enable a consistent approach for recruitment, retention, and deployment of volunteers.  In addition, this role ensures that our volunteers are legally compliant and appropriate in scope as it relates to relevant regulatory bodies including but not limited to CMS, The Joint Commission, and state regulatory agencies.  The stewardship of volunteers is a critical component including onboarding and training.  

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Supervises other volunteer leaders across the Central/Eastern market of CHI Saint Joseph Health and liaison to the Foundation, Mission and Clinical Departments for all Volunteer activities.
  2. Oversee and institute consistent policies across CHI Saint Joseph Health as they relate to volunteers
  3. Standardization – oversee and implement consistent procedures for the recruitment, selection, and deployment of volunteers to the appropriate areas of our facilities serves based on position requirements and regulatory compliance
  4. Ensure compliance of volunteers with regard to initial and annual education, pre-screening, fit-testing (as appropriate) or other compliance related matters
  5. Facilitate monthly and quarterly meetings across the market with volunteer committees to enhance community engagement and improved care and overall experience for our patients
  6. Maintains documentation and record keeping
  7. Process volunteer applications across the market
  8. Lead for volunteer software, Volgistics.
  9. Oversees placement and activities of all volunteer programs 
  10. Maintains office management and continuity
  11. Assists with orders of supplies.
  12. Assists with all incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  13. Maintains communication with the public, staff, and volunteers.
  14. Other duties as assigned

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

3-5 years in management/administrative experience. Demonstrates a willingness to take charge and work to achieve results, despite obstacles. Communicates effectively with persons of varying educational/socioeconomic background; uses mature judgement in deciding what and how to communicate. Works in a collaborative manner to accomplish the goals of the organization and meet the needs of the organization’s customers. Demonstrates a flexibility to modify one’s course of action in order to perform more effectively in changing and challenging situations.
