Responsibilities
Job Summary / Purpose
This position is responsible for proper operation of mechanical systems and equipment. These systems are life support systems or essential utilities, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning, critical and commercial refrigeration, special ventilation hoods, terminal and control equipment, automated building systems and direct digital controls.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Monitors, trouble shoots and customizes the HVAC Energy Management system to optimize energy. Saving’s, lower equipment down time and repair costs through energy management and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Monitors contract services that provide, install or repair equipment associated with the HVAC, Boiler, Chiller and Refrigeration.
- Completes inspections of all mechanical systems and equipment according to established procedures completing log sheets, checklists and PM sheets as required.
- Completes inspections of all refrigeration systems and equipment according to established procedures completing log sheets as required.
- Completes required documentation in reference to mechanical systems as required by federal, state and regulatory agencies.
- Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical systems and equipment.
- Assist other skilled workers and performs general maintenance work as requested.
- Assist Contractors with building information as needed.
- Facilitates the efficient operation of the department by answering the telephone and assisting callers or visitors with request.
- Safe handling/disposal / packaging for Transport of Pharmaceutical Waste/ Hazardous Materials/Bio- Hazardous Regulated Medical Waste. 1) Completes the Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA) and Hazardous Waste education during employee orientation. 2) Tri –annually education for the D.O.T training. 3) is knowledgeable of the process for identifying the proper waste stream and uses the appropriate container to dispose of waste. 4) Knowledgeable regarding the process to contact the emergency response coordinator for hazardous waste/pharmaceutical release/spill clean-up.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
