AmeriMed Infusion Pharmcy in Lexington, Kentucky - Now Hiring Fulltime Compounding Pharmacy Technician

AmeriMed provides home infusion therapy services to help patients safely transition care to their home, alleviating long and unnecessary stays in the hospital. Through our experienced and professional pharmacy team at AmeriMed we provide total care for our patients. Working directly with physicians, we are able to manage a variety of diseases and conditions in a homecare setting. Our goal is to help each patient be an active participant in their care. Through education and partnership with each patient and their caregivers, we teach our patients how to effectively manage their therapy and provide ongoing oversight, coordination and support throughout their therapy


Responsibilities

AmeriMed Infusion Pharmcy in Lexington, KY Now Hiring Fulltime Compounding Pharmacy Technician 

Work Schedule Mon -Fri  (8:30 AM -5:00 PM)  NO ON-CALL REQUIREMENTS!!

The Compounding Pharmacy Technician, under direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist, measures and compounds medication, maintains patient records, performs those duties deemed acceptable by the State Board of Pharmacy.

  • Maintains Pharmacy Technician Certification. If not certified, must obtain a state approved certification to practice in the state working within 12 months of the hire date
  • Assists with the orientation and training of pharmacy personnel.
  • Must be able to work with insurance providers and medical providers. You will bill insurance providers and follow-up with these providers if necessary
  • Participates in on-call rotation. 
  • Programs or double checks IV pump settings for accuracy prior to delivery. 
  • Completes yearly ACHC assessments of compounding standards successfully. 
  • Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, prepares the prescription for filling: checks the compounding record, gathers the necessary pharmaceuticals, stages the prescription and products for the pharmacist to check, and compounds the prescription under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist.
  • Cleans and calibrates compounding equipment per manufacturer’s guidelines and policy and procedures - if applicable by location.Demonstrates ability to perform sterile compounding per strict USP 797 guidelines. 34. Maintains up to date knowledge of USP 797 guidelines. 
  • To communicate with patients about supply and deliveries of medications.
  • Coordinates continuation or discontinuation of services, processes refill prescriptions and documents in the patients’ records.
  • Utilizes administrative and clinical knowledge to assist Pharmacists as they provide medication and other health care products to patients.
  • This position assists in the preparation of I.V. medications and supplies for clients and maintains a clean and organized pharmacy.
  • Responsible for executing all processes in the production of compounded sterile preparations, while strictly adhering to USP 797 regulations and departments Standard Operating Procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • State pharmacy technician licensure for Ohio. 
  • Obtains national certification within 12 months of employment .
  • Compounding Pharmacy Technician - Six months of sterile IV 
  • Compounding pharmacy technician experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • Excellent math skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills, flexibility and ability to work as part of a 
  • multidisciplinary team
  • Self-directed with excellent time management skills and ability to work independently. 
  • Working knowledge of medical technology. 
  • Availability for full-time, regular day time hours and ability to work on-call hours.
