The posted compensation range of $37.40 - $61.71 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Supervisor Laboratory Services, you will oversee laboratory personnel and operations to ensure full compliance and quality in accordance with established laboratory work processes. You will exercise authority over personnel decisions while maintaining responsibility for the technical and scientific oversight of the clinical laboratory department.
Every day you will manage the daily functioning of the lab, ensuring that staff members adhere to safety standards and operational protocols. You will provide leadership and technical guidance to your team, fostering an environment of precision and accountability.
To be successful in this role, you will possess strong leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of clinical laboratory standards. Your ability to balance complex technical requirements with effective personnel management will be essential to ensuring the laboratory maintains the highest level of service and regulatory excellence.
- Supervises, coaches, and reviews the performance of laboratory personnel to ensure adherence to policies and ethics; exercises authority over personnel decisions and identifies training needs to ensure staff maintain competency.
- Serves as the CLIA-defined Technical Consultant by resolving technical problems, implementing remedial actions, and ensuring patient results are only reported when test systems function properly.
- Oversees designated day-to-day laboratory operations and administers laboratory inventories, including supplies, equipment, and consumables.
- Selects appropriate test methodologies and verifies test procedures by establishing performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test system.
- Establishes and maintains a quality control program and performance parameters throughout the entire testing process; ensures enrollment and participation in HHS-approved proficiency testing programs.
- Analyzes and interprets laboratory results in accordance with established work processes to ensure the clinical integrity and accuracy of the reporting process.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical sciences, as defined by CLIA
- Minimum of five (5) years at a moderate or high complexity laboratory

California: CLS:CA
Nevada: CLS:NV or GS:NV
North Dakota: MT-L:ND
Tennessee: MT-L:TN
- Where state license not required: MT or CLS or MLS certification required, ASCP or equivalent (per requirement sheet)
- Pathology Laboratory department: CT or HTL certification required, ASCP or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills
- Extensive knowledge in state and federal regulations
Preferred
- One year experience as a supervisor or higher
