Responsibilities
Job Summary:
As a Sonographer at St. Clare Hospital, you will perform ultrasound examinations in accordance with department protocols and applicable regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and proper operation of ultrasound equipment, working across various specialty areas, including cardiac (at St. Elizabeth Hospital), general, and sub-specialties. You will be an integral part of our team, ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic information is available to our medical professionals.
Essential Duties:
- Expert Imaging: Prepare and operate a variety of diagnostic ultrasound equipment in accordance with American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) standards and department protocols.
- Patient-Centered Care: Deliver compassionate and attentive patient care for all age groups while performing ultrasound exams/procedures and/or special procedures.
- Efficient Operations: Perform general office duties and contribute to smooth department operations, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, filing, maintaining patient records, and ordering supplies.
- Knowledge Sharing: Participate in the formal training of ultrasound interns, contributing to the development of the next generation of sonographers.
- Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of FHS standards, protocols, and procedures; keep skills current through continuing education; attend department, local, and national professional meetings; and actively seek individualized learning opportunities to stay current on new procedures, equipment, and information.

Qualifications
Education/Work Experience:
- Associates degree from an accredited training program in General diagnostic sonography and recent completion of a twelve-month internship in diagnostic ultrasound (with at least six months in General ultrasound) or equivalent recent directly-related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.
- Licensure/Certification: Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or Certification in Sonography by the American Association of Radiology Technologists (ARRT).
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
