Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), you will provide quality care to patients undergoing invasive procedures, effectively assisting physicians in highly specialized Cardiovascular procedures, including diagnostic and interventional catheterization, pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, IABP operation, and electrophysiology studies.

Every day you will explain procedures to patients, position x-ray equipment for optimal imaging, utilize and monitor safe radiological practices, and meticulously monitor/record patient hemodynamic and physiologic data. You will also perform scrub assistance using aseptic technique, manage blood samples, and provide follow-up instructions post-procedure.

To be successful in this role, you will possess technical proficiency in invasive cardiovascular procedures, expertise in x-ray safety and operation, and meticulous attention to detail in patient monitoring, data entry, and aseptic technique.

  • Effectively assist physicians in performing a variety of highly specialized Cardiovascular procedures including, but not limited to, diagnostic and interventional catheterization, pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, intraaortic balloon pump operation (IABP), and electrophysiology studies.
  • Acute MI function of Circulator. Evaluates and documents patient status and responds appropriately; intervenes/refers in a timely manner to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Recognizes and promptly acts upon unusual results or patient response by informing primary health care team to ensure patient safety and foster optimal outcomes.
  • Reflects clinical expertise, competence, and proficiency based on knowledge/skills and exceeds essential job responsibilities per department standards.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities to evaluate care outcomes driven by an underlying curiosity & desire to know more.
  • Accepts accountability for use of evidence to monitor and improve care based on regulatory and practice standards.

We are offering a $7,500 sign on bonus to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements

Job Requirements

Required

  • Associate's Degree
  • A graduate of a diploma, associate or baccalaureate academic program in health science or Graduate of an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology also acceptable
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through CCI; OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES); OR RRT with post primary certification of Cardiac Interventional Radiography through ARRT
  • Surgical Assistant License
  • State of employment Assistant License or Surgical Technologist Certification upon hire unless performing SA duties within the scope of another active Colorado license, certification, or registration (required for Colorado employed staff only)
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire or within six (6) months of hire

Preferred

  • One (1) year of Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience
  • Special procedures experience

Physical Requirements-Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

The Cardiac Cath Lab at St. Anthony Hospital, one of our proud Magnet® hospitals, is a four-room cardiovascular lab, where employees care for those requiring interventional and structural heart procedures, including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), MitraClip, Laser Lead Extraction, Atrial-Flutter and Atrial Fibrillation Ablation, explants and implants, Arterectomy, Balloon Angioplasty and stents. Cath Lab team members work collegially with our specialty medical providers. We provide preparation and recovery of inpatients and outpatients requiring use of the Cardiac Cath Lab. Our unit staffs Monday through Friday with on-call support after hours and weekends. New technology and techniques provide new arenas for life-long learning.
