Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Senior Medical Staff Coordinator, you will effectively manage the Medical Staff's Governance, Credentialing, and Privileging functions for multiple Medical Staffs across various locations, ensuring quality patient care and operational efficiency.

Every day you will prioritize multiple departmental tasks and projects, coordinate medical staff governance activities, and perform all aspects of the credentialing/privileging program, while serving as the primary resource for provider education, onboarding, and credentialing software training.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong leadership and organizational skills, a deep understanding of medical staff governance and credentialing processes, the ability to adapt to diverse organizational structures, and excellent communication and problem-solving abilities to manage complex issues and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Responsible for assembling and authenticating credentialing applications for all Medical Staff, Advanced Practice Provider, Clinical Assistant, Medical Scribes across the system in accordance with established department procedures and time frames, including importing applications, primary source verification, direct communications, collection, analysis, and pursuit of additional information.
  • Ensure database integrity and currency of all credentialing elements for highvolume of providers, to include licensure, DEA registration, professional liability coverage, specialtyboard certification, health status, etc.
  • Serve as the technical resource regarding accreditation standards, bylaws, and policies and procedures governing the medical staff.
  • Educate and serve as the technical assistant to volunteer physician leadership in their evaluation of the current clinical competence of applicants and appropriateness of credentialing requests, references/recommendations, delineations of privileges/criteria, etc.
  • Serve as a team lead for medical staff coordinators and specialists and participates in orientation and training of new associates.
  • Direct, facilitate and motivate physician leaders to accomplish their assigned tasks with matters of significance to department business or in support of the governance system.
Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Three (3) years credentialing/medical staff /payor enrollment related experience or degree in Medical Staff Services Management in lieu of experience
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of The Joint Commission, CMS, and Department of Health standards
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Proven abilities in arbitrating and negotiating issues between physicians and Medical Staff leaders/hospital departments
  • Demonstrated computer and database management skills, with previous experience utilizing credentialing software
  • Strong knowledge of clinical/medical terminology
  • Effective organizational skills required to handle voluminous influx of credentialing applications and to prioritize tasks in order to meet cyclical deadlines
  • Adeptness at developing multiple productive relationships and balancing requests/needs of multiple facilities

Preferred

  • Associate's Degree
  • Successful experience with previous accreditation surveys.
  • CPMSM or CPCS certification.
