Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Field Service Specialist, you will provide specialized repair and maintenance services for diagnostic imaging (radiology, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, etc.) and biomedical equipment, expanding on FSS I duties.
Daily, you will primarily repair and maintain intermediate imaging equipment (DR, basic CT/CT Sim, oncology, Vascular/Specials), leveraging training to reduce contract dependency. You will lead within Clinical Engineering, assisting FSS with imaging equipment repair, and manage service emergencies and communications with stakeholders. Your duties also include parts ordering, Account Manager coverage, identifying new service opportunities, analyzing cost histories for expense reduction, and supporting general biomedical equipment as needed.
Success in this role requires advanced technical expertise, strong leadership, exceptional problem-solving, a proactive approach to cost reduction/training, and commitment to precise, operational healthcare technology.
- Performs repair and maintenance primarily on general imaging such as X-Ray units, Portable X-Ray units, Fluoroscopy Systems, CR Units, and Mammography units.
- Completes all necessary record keeping for work orders received and finished.
- Assists in the ordering of parts and supplies necessary for the most cost effective maintenance of medical imaging equipment.
- Provides on-call coverage on a rotating basis and other duties as assigned.
- Repairs and maintains medical equipment under contract and performs general biomedical duties and functions as required.
- Provides input to the CE Manager regarding new service opportunities within a location serviced by the Clinical Engineering Division.
Non-essential Job Responsibilities
- Must keep up to date on technological and medical advances
- Must maintain up to date understanding of The Joint Commission, NFPA, and other regulatory agencies/standards.
Job Requirements
Required
- Associates Other Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering or related field, equivalent military education, upon hire or Technical School graduate of technical program, upon hire or Certificate Other training validated through training certificates, upon hire or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience servicing technical equipment
- Valid Driver's License
This position requires participation in a rotational on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be available to respond to urgent service needs outside of regular business hours and may be required to return to the facility on short notice.
