Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Cytotechnologist, you will perform cytology testing within the analytical laboratory, providing a high level of technical knowledge and application to department testing and clinical relevance.

Every day you will serve as a department resource, assisting in process improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with pertinent laboratory accreditation and regulatory requirements such as CLIA, CAP, TJC, and OSHA.

To be successful in this role, you will possess expert technical knowledge in cytology, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to function in a self-directed manner while ensuring compliance and contributing to process improvement within the laboratory.

  • Generates and reports results used for making accurate diagnoses and prognoses that influence patient care and management.
  • Responsible for operation, quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting of testingrelated processes, equipment and instrumentation, along with the appropriate documentation required.
  • Serves as a department resource through utilization of critical thinking skills and independent judgement when analyzing, correlating, and interpreting data.
  • Provides advanced, theorybased troubleshooting skills.
  • Communicates effectively to coworkers, providers and other departments through timely notification of critical and significant results and findings, within shift and shifttoshift communication, laboratory and hospital huddles, occurrence reports, email and other manners to ensure continuity of laboratory operations and patient care.
  • Exhibits integrity and stewardship through a strong commitment to following laboratory and hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Cytotechnologist within six (6) months of hire

Preferred

  • One (1) year of experience in the field or in a related area
