Radiation Therapist
The posted compensation range of $35.53 - $52.85 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Responsibilities
$5,000 sign-on bonusand $10,000 educational assistance available to external candidates!
- Greets patient utilizing AIDET, verifies patient in identification, reviews chart for proper radiation treatment parameters and physician prescriptions
- Informs patients and families about the treatment process and answers questions
- Prepares patients for treatment. Positions equipment according to plan
- Takes portal films or IGRT scans to ensure treatment protocols are accurately set up and followed
- Verifies proper dosage of ionizing radiation for patient as prescribed by physician
- Administers treatment to patient
- Monitors patient throughout treatment process by checking video monitors and intercom
- Informs physician anytime patient experiences distress or side effects related to treatment process
- Records each patients’ treatment in EMR and proper notes for accurate treatment and set-up
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the filed by reading appropriate journals, books, and other literature and attending related seminars, conferences and education opportunities
- As directed by radiation oncologist, constructs immobilization devices, positions and marks patient during simulation
- Work with staff in general scheduling, patient charging and order entry
- Participates in scheduled chart round conferences and other quality meetings
Qualifications
Education
- Satisfactory completion of a JRCERT accredited Radiation Therapy Program
Licenses & Certifications
- ARRT (T) boards completion within in 6 month of hire
- BLS from the American Heart Association required upon hire
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of linear accelerators and record and verify systems
- Ability to operate radiation therapy equipment
- Ability to manage patients
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
