EMS Dispatcher
The posted compensation range of $16.42 - $23.19 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Flight Dispatcher will work in a fast paced environment, working both individually and in a team environment to receive and coordinate both emergent and non-emergent telephone and radio requests for patient transports via air and ground ambulance. This exciting position will allow you to work closely with flight clinicians, pilots, mechanics, and administrators to ensure our patients are flown to their destination in a safe and timely manner.
- Performs emergency dispatching of AirCare Air Ambulances & Ground Ambulances
- Compiles, organizes, and processes information for the department from radio, phones and verbal communication.
- Monitors and records incoming and outgoing phone calls on the Emergency Services toll-free hotline for quality assurance purposes.
- Types, files, audits, copies, maintains and monitors department records.
- Provides department service to patients, family members, physicians, nursing and EMS personnel both in and out of the Health Systems.
- Performs value-added activities that result in positive financial performance and customer satisfaction.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Must have ability to perform general clerical and receptionist duties and carry out routine tasks accurately, following written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
- Must be able to prioritize multiple job duties and take appropriate action when critical situations arise.
- Keyboarding skills required.
- Ability to see and hear in order to perform duties.
- Must possess interpersonal skills to effectively work with employees, visitors and guests.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work.
- Medical terminology preferred.
- EMT or Dispatch certifications preferred.
