Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Transplant Financial Counselor, you will be an essential member of the transplant team, coordinating financial resources for Transplant and/or VAD patients. Your role ensures financial readiness and continuity of care for patients and their families.

Every day you will work with patients/families to coordinate financial resources from evaluation through post-transplant care. You'll answer insurance questions, provide multidisciplinary recommendations on financial candidacy, and adhere to departmental policies for charges and Medicare Cost Report. You will establish financial expectations for patients/guarantors, ensuring accurate information for efficient account processing.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong financial counseling expertise, exceptional communication, and meticulous attention to detail regarding insurance and cost reporting. A deep understanding of transplant financial requirements, collaborative teamwork, and a compassionate approach to patient support are essential.

  • Obtains detailed patient insurance benefit information; medical management and transplant
  • Discusses benefits and other financial issues with patients and/or family members during initial evaluation.
  • Advises patients on insurance and billing issues and options. Serves as a resource for patients and their family members on financial matters.
  • Coordinates all necessary payer authorizations including documentation of financial information appropriately in the EMR
  • Consistently monitors and updates information regarding insurance data, physicians, authorizations and managed care contracting.
  • Assists patients and their families with questions concerning insurance and other financial issues.

Required

  • High School Graduate General Studies and Four years of related experience in Transplantation, upon hire or
  • High School GED General Studies and Four years of related experience in Transplantation, upon hire
