Responsibilities

The Transplant Coodinator RN provides coordination of all aspects of the transplant service in order to maintain an organized and efficient program and ensure quality patient care.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility is to screen, and process donor calls for a large transplant center; coordinate and organize all aspects related to donor/recipient status at time of transplant; responsibility for both donor call and outpatient calls. Triage calls, initiating appropriate treatment/intervention as directed by the provider.
  • Provide staff and community education in the areas of transplant and organ donation.
  • Initiate and collaborate in research protocols, journal articles, abstracts and patient education material as requested.
  • Maintain and submit data for both hospital-based statistics, UNOS/UNET, ESRD Network and TDH, in order to ensure availability of accurate statistics and comply with all governmental reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a clinician in the care of this complex patient population
  • Collaborate with the transplant team; comply with protocols, including logistical arrangements of flights, personnel, OR times.
  • Communicate with patients regarding organ offer and admission details, including compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education and Licensure Required: 

  • Bachelor's Degree - Nursing
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA).

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Three (3) Years’ Experience
  • Acute Care/ICU, and/or transplant experience.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated
  • Effective problem solving techniques
