The posted compensation range of $34.00 - $50.58 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.
Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.
To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.
- Expert Scrub Role and Surgical Preparedness: Demonstrates superior knowledge and practice in the first scrub role, flawlessly anticipating surgeon needs, handling instruments, and passing supplies. Independently and accurately prepares the operating room for a wide range of complex procedures, ensuring all sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies are readily available and in proper working order.
- Advanced Instrumentation and Equipment Management: Possesses superior knowledge of varied surgical equipment and advanced surgical instrumentation, managing and troubleshooting specialized instruments. Assures appropriate equipment and supplies are available for each procedure and assists in communication with Biomedical Services regarding repairs and maintenance.
- Cost-Conscious Supply Management: Understands supply costs and independently works with the team to ensure quality of care is maintained while considering cost containment.
- Sterile Field Maintenance and Safety: Maintains a meticulously sterile field throughout the surgical procedure, adhering to strict aseptic technique and immediately identifying and correcting breaks in sterility.
- Patient Support: Assists in safely transferring and positioning patients, prepping the incision site, and applying sterile dressings post-operation.
- Process Improvement & In-service Coordination: Assists with coordinating equipment in-services and developing departmental processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Required
- High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or
- High School GED General Studies, upon hire and
- Other Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program, upon hire or
- Associates Other Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology and
- Minimum of 3 years of recent, continuous experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute care hospital setting, directly supporting a broad range of surgical specialties. and
- Certified Surgical Technologist, upon hire or
- Technologist in Surgery-Certified, upon hire or
- Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days
