Job Summary and Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Region President and collaborating closely with our Market Presidents, the Regional CSO is a pivotal executive role, instrumental in shaping the future of healthcare within our dynamic region. This is a unique opportunity to provide unparalleled thought leadership, strategic guidance, and direction, translating our overarching Mission, Vision, and Values into impactful, region-specific actions.

As the Regional CSO, you will be the architect of our integrated delivery network, spearheading initiatives that build brand position, expand market share, and ensure sustained financial health. You will be a relentless driver of innovation and change, ensuring that every operational decision across our regional network and at the market/facility level aligns seamlessly with our strategic imperatives.

This role requires a strategic master who can develop and operationalize all aspects of growth—from sophisticated marketing initiatives to robust physician alignment strategies—in close collaboration with a diverse network of system, regional, market, and care-site colleagues.

Key Responsibilities & Strategic Imperatives:

  • Integrated Delivery Network Leadership: Lead the efforts to establish, grow, and sustain an integrated delivery network across the full continuum of care, actively pursuing market consolidation opportunities. This includes guiding initiatives related to CIN Development, market/network sufficiency, and driving ambitious growth strategies across ambulatory and diversification opportunities.
  • Strategic Growth & Innovation: Guide strategies to enhance service area growth, expand access to care, and ensure long-term financial sustainability. Oversee all aspects of Strategy, Business Development, Marketing, Communications, Sales optimization, and Digital implementation. Identify and cultivate opportunities for transformational growth, new revenue streams, and local innovation, partnering with our national office to pilot and scale groundbreaking initiatives in population health, IDN strategies, and new revenue generation.
  • Brand & Awareness: Provide inspired guidance for all Region-wide Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Brand management, and public image/awareness initiatives, ensuring a strong and consistent presence in the market.
  • Strategic Planning & Management: Lead the development and deployment of strategies and initiatives to drive growth, offering thought leadership in integration planning, local strategic analysis, and strategic intelligence. Responsible for orchestrating the annual strategic planning process and ensuring seamless integration and realization of market-based IDNs, aligning with local dynamics and strategy.
  • Partnerships & Development: Evaluate and lead growth opportunities for regional partnerships and ventures, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic collaborations, from initial identification of needs to post-transaction engagement and management.
  • Physician Alignment & Workforce Development: Develop and implement strategies to align physicians with our integrated delivery network in close collaboration with the Physician Enterprise. This includes leading physician and provider workforce development plans, independent physician recruitment, and joint venture integration.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a highly collaborative partner with National Strategy, M&A/M&A/ M&A/Partnerships, Payer Strategy, Physician Enterprise, Mission Services, Community Health, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure holistic strategic alignment and execution.
  • Performance & Measurement: Continuously measure strategic progress, providing insightful analyses and recommendations to leadership to inform decision-making, refine initiatives, and achieve superior strategic growth.
  • Service Line & COE Strategy: Oversee the development of robust service line and Center of Excellence strategies, including comprehensive planning, rationalization, and integration efforts.
  • Payer Strategy Leadership: Partner with managed care in the development of sophisticated payer strategies, encompassing fee-for-service, value-based care, and direct-to-employer models.
  • Operational Excellence: Fulfill essential management duties for key areas of responsibility, including staffing, annual reviews, budget management, and other functional leadership duties as assigned to meet specific geographic needs.


Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Exceptional Strategic Acumen: A proven track record of developing and executing complex, multi-year strategic plans within an extensive, integrated healthcare system or equivalent.
  • Transformative Leadership: The ability to inspire and lead diverse teams through periods of significant change, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance.
  • Financial & Market Savvy: Demonstrated expertise in driving financial sustainability, market share growth, and brand differentiation in highly competitive environments.
  • Collaborative Influence: Superior interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build consensus and influence stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
  • Healthcare Expertise: Deep understanding of the evolving healthcare landscape, including population health, value-based care, digital health, and physician alignment strategies.
  • Academic Partnerships: Experience in developing and leveraging academic partnerships for strategic advantage is a significant plus.
  • Education: A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is required, and/or additional job-related experience may be substituted in lieu of the Master's degree

Where You'll Work

The Region Chief Strategy role is a remote position requiring residency within the South Region (AR, TX, GA, KY, TN) and involves 50% travel across the region.
