The posted compensation range of $14.86 - $20.43 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Transportation Specialist transports Helping Hands clients to and from medical, nutrition and personal destinations, while providing excellent customer care and maintaining compliance with State, grant and program requirements. A special emphasis is placed on the development and maintenance of sensitivity to the needs of seniors and medically frail individuals within the community. Monitors physical and mental well-being of clients and provides appropriate resource referrals as needed. Maintains a cordial and professional work environment. Follows all Federal, State and Local traffic safety laws and regulations for the safe transportation of clients, including ADA safety regulations.
Qualifications
Minimum
- High School or equivalent
- First Aid Certification, Substance Abuse, Elder Abuse/Adult Protective Services Training, Infection Control and Prevention, Defensive Driving, ADAPTS Securement Training to be completed within 30 days of hire
- Good knowledge of body mechanics
- 2 years customer service experience or driving experience
- DRV LIC = Driver's License
- CT CPRBLS = AHA-Basic Life Support
- Must have a valid state-issued driver's license for a minimum of 2 years prior to application for employment
- Must have clean driving record
- Ability to work independently
- Effective time management skills
- Read, comprehend and apply technical material
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to interact with senior and/or disabled clients in a professional and courteous manner
Preferred
- Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training; SafeTalk Suicide Awareness and Prevention training; Cognitive Stimulation Training (CST); Community Health Worker (CHW) training; Senior Peer Counseling or Grief/Bereavement training; Chronic Disease Self-Management
- Professional driving experience
- Customer service experience with senior populations
- Knowledgeable in vehicle safety and maintenance
- Experience with computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
