Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Nurse, Pediatric Intensive Care, you will help critically ill pediatric patients and their families receive expert, compassionate, and life-saving care so they can achieve the best possible clinical outcomes, recover safely, and experience comfort and support during their most vulnerable moments.
Every day you will be expected to employ advanced critical thinking to integrate objective data with the subjective experiences of your patients, applying the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care. You will be expected to continually evaluate the quality and effectiveness of your nursing practice, manage complex medication regimens, ensure meticulous documentation, and maintain open communication with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary care team.
To be successful in this role, you must possess exceptional critical thinking, clinical expertise in pediatric intensive care, and a deep commitment to ethical, evidence-based practice with this information:
- Completes initial patient assessment and reassessments as indicated by patient condition, and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
- Demonstrates critical thinking by implementing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) and using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems, and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
- Has the physical ability to safely and effectively care for patient population assigned and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
- Manages medication administration and intravenous (IV) access according to physician's orders and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
- Has communication abilities sufficient to promote patient and family centered care by interacting with patients, families, and care-delivery team in verbal and written form and assures practices comply with human resources, policies/procedures, and professional standards.
This position is represented by CNA and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Job RequirementsRequired
- One (1) year acute pediatric intensive care experience or successful completion of applicable clinical and didactic SRDH specialty training course(s) or program
- Graduate of an accredited school of-nursing
Active RN license in good standing with the Nevada State Board of Nursing
- American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS)
- Oncology Certified Nurse
- Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements
