Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant (MA) Lead position is responsible for understanding and working within their professional scope of practice as defined by Nevada state requirements. They must also complete the Dignity Health Medical Group Nevada orientation period, demonstrating skills and behaviors that reflect fully competent performance. The MA Lead maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment and provides patient care services that support the physician or provider’s practice under the clinical supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Licensed Vocational Nurse.

  • Responsibilities include prepping patients for examinations or procedures, assisting with procedures, relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or an authorized individual, and collecting patient data.
  • The MA Lead also documents patient concerns, messages, and care provided in the patient's medical record for the physician’s review. Additional duties include administering medications as specifically directed by the physician and accurately measuring and documenting vital signs.
  • The Lead MA is also responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the back office and handling other duties as assigned by the area manager.
  • This position may involve access to third-party credit card information and transactional systems (such as cash registers, point-of-sale devices, or applications supporting credit card transactions) from single transactions or a single card at a time.

Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have completed a formal Medical Assistant program or equivalent military training
  • Determination made by Dignity Health Medical Group Nevada HR and state requirements required upon hire
  • 6 months of experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant preferred
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
