Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Community Health Educator, you will develop, coordinate, and implement education and support programs for community members. Your role empowers individuals with knowledge, promotes healthful living, and encourages active healthcare decision-making.

Every day you will provide relevant health knowledge, aiding coping and recovery, and ensuring each contact with the Resource Center fosters security and confidence. You will facilitate informed choices for well-being.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong program development and coordination skills, effective communication, and a deep commitment to women's health, health promotion, and patient-centered decision-making.

  • Assess the needs of the community through involving target population and partner organizations in program planning. Formulate appropriate and measurable program objectives.
  • Acts as a facilitator and consultant to enhance education goals in caring for hospital customers (in-patient, outpatient and community). Use a variety of methods to implement strategies, interventions and programs.
  • Plans curriculum content and sequence and other activities for customers and their families.
  • Ensures patient/customer's initial contact with the Resource Center is one that fosters a sense of security and confidence.
  • Provides one to one coaching to those individuals desiring this service.
  • Develops, coordinates and implements education resources, programs and support services to serve the needs of our community as identified by the Community Health Needs Assessment.

Job Requirements

Minimum: 

  • Experience teaching and working in the community.
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Education or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage work within timeframes.
  • Strong analytical skills to read and interpret technical material.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive mental attitude with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy.
