The posted compensation range of $63.67 - $77.38 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer), you will utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, providing critical visual data for diagnosis and prenatal care.
Every day you will directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans. You will meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images. You will monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort, select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians.
To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent patient service and communication skills, sharp eyesight, and meticulous attention to detail. You will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, sound judgment, and advanced decision-making skills to effectively capture and interpret sonographic data, ensuring optimal diagnostic support.
- Uses independent judgement according to the circumstances of the procedure performs a broad range of ultrasound imaging procedures to create diagnostic medical images that meet the acceptability by the Medical Director.
- Positively identifies patient and correlates procedure with physician's order. Explains procedure to patient and responds to patient questions/concerns before beginning. Obtains written consent to proceed when required by hospital standard practice and for invasive procedures that sufficient explanation for informed consent has been given by a physician.
- Reviews patient schedule daily prior to beginning workload to insure there are no scheduling errors, prioritizes exams and maintains patient flow so that scheduled patients wait no longer than 15-20 minutes for their procedure. Informs patient of reason for delay when emergency cases are added on.
- Maintains work area in a neat and clean fashion, observes that equipment is in safe operating condition
- Maintains and preserves patient privacy, dignity and comfort by using table pads, patient gowns, blankets and sheets to cover the patient during all procedures

- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Adult Echo or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Fetal Echo or
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Pediatric Echo or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Abdomen or
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Breast or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Neurosonology or
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer OB/GYN or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Pediatric Sonographer
