Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Surgical Nursing Assistant I provides a variety of cleaning and support functions to maintain the department and equipment in a sanitary condition.
  • Assumes responsibility for the care of surgical instruments, sterile supplies and departmental equipment a.Cleans endoscopes and endoscope supplies
  • Demonstrates ability to correctly package (wrap, label, date) supplies for sterilization a.Endoscope washer/disinfector
  • Assumes responsibility for environmental services functions a.Changes trash and linen hampers, sharps buckets throughout department as necessary b.Cleans and readies OR gurneys c.Makes patient beds/gurneys as appropriate d.Cleans sinks
  • Maintains and restocks departmental supplies and environmental services equipment a.Restocks all work room and sterile room supplies b.Restocks blanket warmers, sub sterile room supplies
  • Performs clerical and task-oriented duties as assigned a.Transports patients safely b.Obtains blood from laboratory c.Transports lab specimens
  • Assumes responsibility for the care of surgical instruments, sterile supplies and departmental equipment A.Assembles instrument sets and equipment trays according to instrument index B.Washes instruments quickly and thoroughly to provide for efficient turn around time C.Cleans endoscopes and endoscope supplies

Job Requirements
Required
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Preferred
  • One year recent acute care experience and
  • Previous experience in CentralProcessing
