Join our Obstetrics Unit as a Charge RN!
As a Charge Nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience adds tremendous value to our nursing team. Every interaction is an opportunity to improve your understanding of a patient's needs, the needs of your nursing team, or the needs of your unit. You'll advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives. To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.
- Assumes shift responsibility and accountability for unit operations, including, but not limited to:
- Coordinates daily unit activities
- Manages appropriate patient care assignment based on the competency of staff and acuity of patient; adjusts staffing appropriately
- Participates in bed control process
- Assists with coordination of patient care, with the Case Manager. *Facilitates timely and appropriate patient admission and discharge
- Facilitates timely diagnostic testing.
- Facilitates necessary treatment referrals
- Facilitates timely and appropriate transfers to a lower or higher level of care based on the assessed needs of the patient.
- Facilitates the patient admission and discharge process
- Ensures meal breaks are assigned and documented on assignment sheet
- Assigns unlicensed assistive personnel to support patient care delivery for the assigned tasks.
- Meets the duties and responsibilities of the job description for GMHHC RN on assigned nursing unit to be able to perform as a resource for clinical issues and patient care activities as needed.
- Maintains working knowledge of daily patient care needs by listening to report and rounding of all patients on unit.
- Focuses on desired outcomes and critical data/events to facilitate unit operations
Position is represented by CNA.
Job Requirements
Required
- Minimum 2 years of RN Obstetrics experience in a hosptial setting required.
- Minimum education as required for licensure.
- Current California license as a Registered Nurse
- AHA BLS, NRP
Preferred
Bachelors of Science Preferred
