Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Records Technician, you will play a crucial role in the efficient organization and coordination of records within our Diagnostic Imaging department, directly supporting the care and safety of our patients.

Every day, you will meticulously process paperwork according to department policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance. You will be the friendly first point of contact, greeting and registering patients for various Imaging procedures and serving as the department liaison to address their questions and concerns. You will also explain instructions and provide necessary supplies to patients prior to their exams and be responsible for scheduling patient studies across all Imaging areas, including Diagnostic, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine.

To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional organizational skills and a meticulous approach to record management, ensuring all documentation is accurate and accessible. You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, providing empathetic and clear assistance to patients and their families. A strong commitment to patient safety and a proactive, detail-oriented work ethic will be essential in managing the diverse administrative and coordination needs of our busy Diagnostic Imaging department.

  • Demonstrates adherence to the Standards of Conduct Requirements.
  • Schedules patient studies for all Imaging areas including Diagnostic, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine studies.
  • Understands and can communicate instructions and answer basic procedural questions to determine the appropriate scheduling solution.
  • Interacts on a continual basis with the computerized Radiology Information System and Hospital Information Systems to maintain current status of patient records.
  • Maintains active response system to requests for record release. This includes physician requests, legal requests and direct patient requests.
  • Provides results to approved requesting individuals either verbally or by facsimile, confirms and documents the provision of such records on the X-ray jacket. Is able to interpret the language of the Radiology report and communicate the information in an effective way.
Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Computer skills for operating within RIS/HIS/PACS, Microsoft Office & Google Workspace.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Preferred

  • Medical office experience
