As the Environmental Services Technician, you will keep all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized to protect individuals from potential infectious diseases or other hazards.

You’ll succeed in this job if you are thorough and committed to safety. Not only will you perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting, you will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize this facility.

You must learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You will learn about and safely use disinfecting chemicals and learn techniques and procedures for cleaning certain specialized rooms or pieces of equipment. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, tissue holders, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens to patient rooms.

Responsibilities

An Environmental Service Worker 2 is expected to perform duties in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization and within scope of services of the Department. This job is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of comfort and cleanliness in the buildings and areas used by our patients, visitors and staff. At all times, duties are performed conscientiously in a safe and efficient manner, taking ownership and responsibility for the areas assigned and keeping customer expectations in mind. Performs floorecare and carpet shampoo duties.

Assists Environmental Services management by ensuring that all assigned departmental functions are completed in a timely manner according to hospital policy by providing leadership to Environmental Services staff in completion of their duties. Performs duties of Environmental Services staff positions based on staffing requirements and may function as shift supervisor during his/her absence. At all times performs duties conscientiously in a safe and efficient manner taking ownership in responsibilities assigned and keeping customer expectations in mind.


Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 year work experience in a hospital setting in environmental services.
  • Must be able to read and write basic English as defined by the organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public (employees, vendors, patients, volunteers, physicians, etc.) and with peers.

Preferred/Desired:

  • Prefer 2 year work experience in a hospital setting with carpet shampoo and floorcare machines in environmental services.
