Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a CNA Patient Care Assistant, you will be a central figure on our patient care team, providing direct, compassionate, hands-on support to patients and assisting nurses and other healthcare professionals. You will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and a supportive healing environment.
Every day, you will expertly perform basic patient care duties like taking vital signs, assisting with ADLs, monitoring and documenting patient intake/output, and collecting specimens. You will also maintain patient rooms, transport patients and equipment, and promptly report changes in patient condition to nursing staff, adhering strictly to safety protocols and infection control.
To be successful in this role, you will combine a strong empathetic approach, meticulous attention to detail in clinical tasks, and excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary teamwork. Responsibilities:
- Provides personal hygiene care and assistance to patients promptly and documents and reports any unusual observations to the nurse in charge.
- Takes Vital Signs promptly and reports any abnormalities to the nurse in charge.
- Assists in pressure sore prevention by utilizing the turning schedule every 2 hours for patients with pressure sores or at risk of developing one.
- Participates in restorative care with a focus on ambulation and transfers, with or without an assistive device, to maintain an optimal level of functioning, and provides passive/active range-of-motion exercises to prevent contractures.
- Reports and records any changes in the patient's condition, vital signs, or behavior of the patients and any unusual incident immediately to the nurse in charge and assists in intervention as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required
- CNA training and education in an accredited CNA certification program required.
- One year acute hospital experience required
- California Certified Nursing Assistant (CA CNA License) required.
- AHA Basic Life Support Cert (AHA BLS) required.
