Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Recreation Therapist, you'll improve patient well-being by designing therapeutic recreation programs, helping them develop skills and enhance quality of life.
Every day, you'll assess needs, plan treatments, lead engaging activities, collaborate with teams, and document progress.
To be successful in this role, you need strong knowledge of therapeutic recreation, creativity, and interpersonal skills.
- Conduct comprehensive recreation therapy assessments to determine patient needs, interests, and abilities.
- Develop individualized and group treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and physician orders.
- Facilitate a variety of therapeutic recreation interventions and activities (e.g., expressive arts, leisure education, social skills training, physical activity, community reintegration preparation) tailored to the unique needs of an acute mental health population.
- Document patient progress accurately and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Actively participate as an integral member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, collaborating with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and holistic patient care.

Job Requirements- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- One (1) year of experience in Mental Health in an acute hospital setting required.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records required.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
- AHA BLS
Preferred
- Bilingual Spanish or Armenian preferred.
