Transporter

As our Patient Transporter, you will provide essential assistance and transportation for patients and related items across our campus, ensuring a highly customer-sensitive and seamless experience.

Every day you will promptly and safely transport inpatients and outpatients to and from various hospital areas. You will meticulously confirm patient identification, greet and assist in transferring patients, and make conscious observations of patient condition during transport, reporting any issues to appropriate personnel. You will also maintain a clean and organized work area and report any malfunctioning equipment.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and exceptional customer service for all individuals within our facility. You will be attentive, observant, and capable of performing duties efficiently while upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism.

• Responds quickly to calls for patient transportation. Checks with nursing personnel before transporting a patient to identify any special requirements
• Makes positive identification of the location when transporting patients and/or medications and delivers correctly and promptly to that location
• Understands and uses proper lifting techniques when assisting patients. Routinely uses safe and effective techniques to handle equipment such as wheelchairs, IV poles, oxygen carts, etc. Seeks help when necessary to handle multiple equipment tasks
• Assists nursing departments and/or Diagnostic Imaging Department in providing direct patient care in situations such as changing bed linen and/or patient gowns, cleaning up patients and maintaining patient hygiene, providing nourishment to patients when requested
• Assists in the maintenance of equipment (wheelchairs and stretchers) by notifying maintenance when equipment is in need of repair. On a routine or scheduled basis, cleans all wheelchairs and stretchers that are being used to transport patients
• Assists staff in keeping patients informed regarding their wait-times for procedures and/or getting back to their rooms

Required

• High School Graduate, or
• High School GED, upon hire
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CT CPRBLS)
