CHI St. Alexius Health Garrison includes the services of a 22-bed critical access hospital, a 26-bed skilled nursing facility, an attached rural health clinic, and a newly remodeled Emergency Department that is available 24 hours a day. We offer many outpatient services, including physical therapy, radiology services, laboratory services, cardiac rehabilitation, and IV treatments.

Since opening in 1952, CHI St. Alexius Health Garrison has been dedicated to serving the residents of Garrison and the surrounding rural communities.

Garrison Memorial Hospital is equipped with 4 emergency rooms, on-site lab, radiology, CT and physical therapy services. Our patients have access to 24/7 emergency care, swing-bed program, and acute care services. Responsibilities

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The Registered Physical Therapist organizes and conducts medically prescribed therapy programs to help patients reach their maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.  All the criteria based duties and standards within this document will be performed according to the policies, procedures and guidelines within this document and the Hospital.  



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate patients, set up, perform and progress rehabilitation programs
  • Design and communicate home programs.  
  • Document patient notes, certifications, re-certifications and treatment instructions are timely, complete, accurate and easy to follow.
  • Notes are done in accordance with Quality Improvement documentation criteria.
  • Patient charges accurately reflect the services, supplies and equipment provided to the patient.
  • Give an adequate explanation to clients of their injury/condition
  • Give an adequate explanation to clients of the purpose of their treatment.
  • Ensure clients understand their treatment and rehabilitation goals.
  • Ensure clients are satisfied with the treatment they receive from the department.
  • During periods of heavy workloads, demonstrates the ability to handle increased caseloads by improving personal efficiency (dovetailing patients) and/or working outside regularly scheduled hours.
  • Develop new programs and/or works with/follows physicians to stimulate referrals, develop relationships and improve quality of care.
  • Supervise students, teaches classes and speaks publicly when the opportunity arises. 
  • Willingly work outside regular hours when workload demands.
  • Offer to help staff with work when able to assist.
  • Manages department when other manager/staff PT is unavailable.  
  • Effectively supervise department staff.  Works out problems within department and handles inter-department conflicts as they arise.
  • Completes reports or assignments and hands them into Department head at designated date.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy


Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure by the North Dakota State Examining Committee of Physical Therapists.
