Laundry Aide
The posted compensation range of $15.00 - $19.82 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Responsibilities
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Works under the supervision of the Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor. Laundry aide launders, distributes and stores washable linen, garments, and personal clothing to ensure availability of these items for patients, employees, and guest of the medical center in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Garrison Memorial Hospital.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Launder linens (at appropriate temperature for garment life and type of soil) to meet infectious control regulations and hospital standards.
- Segregate worn, stained, or otherwise imperfect articles
- Dispense proper amount of detergent and germicidal solutions according to manufacturers’ specifications and safety practices spelled out by material safety data sheets.
- Willingly performs extra assignments
- Organize and replenish all linen closets daily to meet patient care needs.
- Transport linens to appropriate designated areas by specified time.
- Close department at the end of the shift:
- Close windows and doors to comply with fire code
- Turn off water and steam valves. Turn off fans and lights.
- Attend department meetings and in-services as assigned.
- Properly maintain equipment, maintains safety vigil and keeps work area clean:
- Ensure that all equipment is in good working order including but not limited to replacing disposable parts in a timely manner.
- Return equipment to proper storage room after use.
- Report to supervisor and to maintenance items needing repair in the laundry.
- Report mechanical failures and unsafe conditions throughout hospital to supervisor.
Qualifications
Education: Literacy - ability to understand and to complete written and verbal instructions.
Interpersonal Skills: Relates well with staff, patients and visitors. Maintains confidentiality.
Physical Effort: Physical Demand is medium.
