Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Housekeeper, you will work under the supervision of the housekeeping supervisor. Every day you will clean and maintain assigned areas of the hospital in a sanitary and orderly way. You will be expected to promote a clean and healthy environment for all employees, patients and guests. To be successful in this role, you must be committed to social justice, health equity and prepared to deliver cleanliness in new and innovative ways.

  • Daily Patient Room Cleaning: Disinfects and cleans all surfaces, fixtures, and furniture, wet and dry mops floors, and properly disposes of garbage
  • Weekly Patient Room Responsibilities: Moves furniture for cleaning, dusts all surfaces (including windows, vents, and lights), cleans/disinfects garbage cans, and replaces supplies
  • Common Area Maintenance: Daily duties include cleaning hall handrails, vacuuming carpets, dusting hallway floors, and weekly wet mopping, with daily cleaning/disinfection of public bathrooms
  • Isolation Protocol Adherence: Practices strict infection control, properly disposes of isolation room waste, uses a fresh mop head per room, and utilizes color-coded cleaning rags
  • Clinic Daily Routines: Disinfects and cleans all bathroom and treatment room fixtures/floors, vacuums carpets, and properly disposes of both regular and red bag garbage
  • As-Needed & Monthly Tasks: Includes cleaning fans, replacing sharps containers, spot cleaning walls, shampooing chairs, cleaning AC filters, doors/trim, and replacing divider curtains

​​CHI St. Alexius Health Garrison includes the services of a 22-bed critical access hospital, a 26-bed skilled nursing facility, an attached rural health clinic, and an Emergency Department that is available 24 hours a day. We offer many outpatient services, including physical therapy, radiology services, laboratory services, cardiac rehabilitation, and IV treatments. Since opening in 1952, CHI St. Alexius Health Garrison has been dedicated to serving the residents of Garrison and the surrounding rural communities. The hospital is equipped with 4 emergency rooms, on-site lab, radiology, CT and physical therapy services. Our patients have access to 24/7 emergency care, swing-bed program, and acute care services.
