The posted compensation range of $36.83 - $41.71 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As an ED Tech, you will provide crucial support and direct patient care in the fast-paced Emergency Department, ensuring efficient operations and compassionate assistance during critical moments.
Every day you will expertly assist with patient admissions and discharges, perform vital signs and basic medical procedures, maintain a clean and organized environment, and meticulously document observations to support the nursing staff and physician team.
To be successful, you will demonstrate outstanding adaptability, strong communication skills, and a calm, proactive demeanor, contributing significantly to timely patient care and a smooth-running ED.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrates competency in psychomotor skills and technical procedures within scope of practice. Prepares patient for examination/treatment appropriate to the chief complaint and demographic/population specific criteria. Performs all vital signs, special procedure set up, splinting and any other simple tasks as directed by the RN within the scope of their practice. Demonstrates ability to use department equipment appropriate to the level of training. Responds effectively in emergency situation.
- Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Demonstrates proficiency and competence with the computerized documentation system.
- Organizational Skills: Demonstrates appropriate organization, priority setting and problem solving skills.
- Self Development: Demonstrates accountability for self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development. Maintains EMT certification.
- Patient Safety: Applies safety precautions and principles to patient care. Includes all applicable National Patient Safety Goals.
- Quality: Participates in unit, service line and CHW Quality initiatives. Includes Patient Satisfaction, Throughput Initiatives, Core Measures.
- EMT experience in field or trauma/EDsetting.
- Emergency Medical Technician: CA.
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
