Responsibilities

Job Summary

As the Critical Care RN Educator, you will be responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of nursing education within the critical care units at St. Francis Hospital. Your work will span from basic to advanced practice levels, ensuring that staff are equipped with the necessary skills to provide the highest level of patient care. You’ll partner with unit management and Regional Education to enhance patient outcomes by promoting continuous learning and fostering a culture of excellence in clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Education & Training: Develop, assess, and revise education programs for nursing staff in critical care areas. Deliver in-service training and ongoing educational support to enhance nursing competency.
  • Orientation & Residency Programs: Plan and direct the orientation and residency programs for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles while reinforcing core competencies.
  • Competency Assessment: Develop and implement competency assessment tools, ensuring they are completed and followed up with additional education as needed.
  • Quality Improvement: Contribute to department quality initiatives by identifying educational opportunities that align with patient safety and regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other educators to standardize educational offerings, reduce duplicative efforts, and promote continuous self-learning among staff.
  • Ongoing Learning: Stay current with the latest advances in critical care nursing and incorporate these into educational offerings to maintain a highly skilled and knowledgeable team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: At least two years of RN experience in critical care, along with a proven track record in nursing education or training. Experience working in an educator role is strongly preferred.
  • Alternative Pathway: If you are actively pursuing a BSN (and have at least four years of combined nursing and education experience in critical care), we will consider you for the position, provided that you are within six months of completing your degree.
