Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Perinatal Safety Specialist RN, you will lead the implementation, promotion, and oversight of perinatal patient safety and quality of care initiatives and programs, combining clinical expertise with a fervent focus on patient safety.

Every day you will ensure adherence to national clinical standards, disseminate crucial safety information, facilitate educational programs, conduct safety rounds, and actively contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

To be successful in this role, you will champion a culture of safety by monitoring clinical outcomes, analyzing adverse events, developing education plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, compliant care for mothers and babies.

  • Ensures all care providers on Maternal Child Health adhere to national clinical standards and principles and practice of safety.
  • Serves as a patient safety advocate and clinical role model in perinatal nursing obstetrics.
  • Keeps staff up to date on Perinatal Safety Initiatives, including education, training, implementation, policies.
  • Keeps abreast of changing national standards of clinical practice and the CommonSpirit Health Perinatal
  • Safety Initiatives: Disseminates pertinent safety and specialty related information. Participates in patient safety or administrative rounding.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing and minimum of 5 years as a clinician in Women’s Services.
  • Minimum of 2 years of project experience in Women and Infants Perinatal Safety.
  • Experience with quality improvement/process improvement techniques, project/program management experience.
  • Active Washington State Registered Nurse License
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 90 Days of hire
  • Must have one of the following certifications upon hire: Critical Care Registered Nurse Neonatal (CCRN-NEO), Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) , Maternal Child Nursing (RN-BC MCN), Perinatal Nurse (RN-BC-PERI) , Low Risk Neonatal Nursing (RNC-LRN), Maternal Newborn Nursing (RNC-MNN), Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC) , Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB), Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing (RNC).
