The posted compensation range of $25.30 - $35.74 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As an Endoscopy Tech, you will provide crucial technical support during endoscopic procedures, ensuring patient safety and efficiency.
Every day you will meticulously prepare, maintain, and sterile process endoscopy equipment, assist physicians during procedures, and prepare rooms while maintaining accurate documentation.
To be successful, you will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail in sterile processing, and collaborative skills in a fast-paced clinical setting, contributing to positive patient outcomes.
- Maintains cleaning processes for scopes and the cleaning, disinfecting and storage areas on a daily basis.
- Mechanical and automated cleaning and disinfecting of endoscopes and accessories according to manufacturer’s instructions and SGNA/ASGE Standards for Reprocessing of Flexible Gastrointestinal Endoscopes.
- Documents the disinfectant solutions for efficacy in a logbook.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of basic anatomy of a fiberoptic and videoscopes and the types of scopes and the how and why of when they are used.
- Assists in preparing procedure areas.
- Prepares and maintains endoscopy video cart, light source, supplies, endoscope, instillation pump and lab containers.
- Gathers necessary supplies, equipment and instruments; maintains and orders appropriate types and volume of supplies.
- Perform restocking duties as necessary.
- Prepares rooms before and after procedures, including cleaning, laundry and biohazardous waste removal
- Provides assistance, within scope of licensure/certification, to a licensed health care practitioner with patient care during endoscopy procedures.
- Assists with positioning patient on procedure carts and patient care as directed by licensed health care practitioner.
- Assists nursing personnel with movement of patients including transporting patients to procedure rooms.
- Assists with the collection of specimens during procedure.
- Performs routine maintenance of scopes and endoscopic equipment.
- Troubleshoots scopes in response to reports problems.
- Participates in infection control studies.
Job Requirements
Required
- Completion of a gastroenterology or endoscopy technician training program or 1 year of related experience in a health care setting with completion of a Certified Medical Assistant, Operating Room Tech or Nursing Aide program., upon hire and
- Lead: Two years of directly-related work experience as Endoscopy Tech (or equivalent) within the last three years or
- Lead: any combination of related experience or education that would demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position
- Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor, upon hire or
- Certified Nursing Assistant: WA, upon hire or
- Medical Assistant Certification: WA, upon hire or
- Surgical Technologist Registration: WA, upon hire and
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
